Sitwell Short Game Area

Opened on July 1, 2025, the Sitwell Short Game Area is a world-class practice facility that blends St. Charles Country Club’s rich architectural heritage with modern player development. Designed by acclaimed Canadian architect Riley Johns as a tribute to Dr. Alister MacKenzie, this riverside addition transforms former grounds along the Assiniboine River into an inspiring short-game destination.

Anchored by a dramatic 35,000-square-foot putting green inspired by MacKenzie’s famed 12th green at Sitwell Park in England, the area features three uniquely contoured greens, four practice bunkers, and expansive bentgrass fairway surrounds for chipping, pitching, bunker play, and putting. With bold contours, varied shot values, and a naturally beautiful setting, the Sitwell Short Game Area invites creativity, friendly competition, and meaningful practice for golfers of all skill levels, honouring the Club’s past while elevating the future of the game at St. Charles.

The Practice Tee

The practice tee is conveniently located adjacent the Pro Shop and the first tees. The area is highlighted by a large grass tee, several target greens and TrackMan Range to enhance your practice experience. Situated within a forest inside of our Ross Nine, the practice tee serves as an excellent place to warm up, hone your skills or spend a quiet evening enjoying the club.

Putting Green

Our magnificent putting green is surround by our first tees and sits in front of our clubhouse and Pro Shop. This practice area had two distinct sides, one having sharper undulation and break, while the other having gentle slopes to practice subtle breaks. At 14,000 square feet, our putting green has plenty of space to allow golfers to use their imagination and improve their putting.

Performance Centre

Our performance centre is the perfect place for our members to take a private lesson or be fitted for golf equipment. Our PGA of Canada professionals use the latest technology to improve your swing or fit your clubs. The performance centre hosts Swing Catalyst Force & Pressure, Foresight Launch Monitor technology and high-speed video as a tool to help find your swing. As well, the Pro Shop hosts a putting studio utilizing Quintic Ball Roll technology to custom fit putters and improve your stroke.
